The cream puff cardigan

By January 3, 2019 No Comments

crochet cardigan fisherman yarnAre you a fan of post stitches? Me too! They add amazing texture to crochet projects. Not to mention that squishy puffy softness we all love in a crocheted sweater.

Usually, I keep my designs pretty simple but I guess you can say I was inspired by my instagram feed.  The unique and intricate designs I see on my feed feature a lot of post stitches.  And the finished products are beautiful. You’ve done your job instagram, I’m inspired to use more post stitches.

crochet cardigan free patternMy mom had asked me for a cardigan for the winter and I wanted to have one ready for her as a Christmas present. So between all the frenzied holiday hustle and bustle I somehow stole away some time to work up this cardigan and get the pattern perfected to publish. I hope you like it.

I used Lion Brand’s Vanna’s choice yarn as I often do.  Simply because I love the quality, it’s works up beautifully and I had about 6 skeins of this color in my stash.  You can get some here.

So if you’re a fan of the post stitch and you like the look of my cream puff cardigan, try this one out.  And I love to design cardigans so I have lots of other cardigan patterns here on the website to try.

crochet cardigan grayI had actually made this gray cardigan first as sort of a prototype. Doing it this way helps me gauge my sizing a little bit more accurately. So as you can see from the photos, the gray cardigan is going to be a larger fit than the off white. Just check out the finished measurements section to determine which size to make based on how much ease you like in your cardigans. Personally, I like all my clothes to fit pretty loosely.  I guess I just want everyday to feel like pajama day. I’m not the only one, right?

Now let’s get crocheting!
